The university received 6,615 early decision applicants (a 7 percent increase over the past year's ED applicant numbers) and admitted 23.8 percent (1,576 students), meaning its admit rate increased by 1.2 percentage points. Those admitted are estimated to comprise 49 percent of the Class of 2024. Applications to Tufts' undergraduate degree programs continue to grow, with more than 23,100 students applying for admission to the Class of 2024. That's a 1.5 percent increase over last year and represents the most diverse applicant pool in recent history, according to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Rice University admitted 421 early decision applicants to the Class of 2024.
Early decision applications rose 29 percent to 2,635, resulting in an admission rate of 16 percent.

Duke announced today that it received 5,036 early decision applications for the Class of 2025, up 18 percent year over year.
With 840 students admitted, resulting in an early decision rate of 17 percent. The slightly lower than normal number of admitted students this year is due to more Class of 2024 students taking a gap year.

Yale announced today that it admitted 837 applicants to the Class of 2025 under Single Choice Early Action.
A record 7,939 applications were received, up 38 percent year over year, resulting in an early admission rate of 10.5 percent. 50 percent of applicants were deferred, 38 percent were denied, and 1 percent were withdrawn or incomplete.

The University of Virginia announced today that it admitted 968 early decision applicants to the Class of 2025.
A total of 2,937 early decision applications were received, up 38 percent year over year, resulting in an overall early admission rate of 33 percent. The resident admit rate was 39 percent versus 26 percent for non-residents. Early decision acceptances are expected to represent roughly 26 percent of the targeted class size of 3,750.

Emory University admitted 769 Early Decision I applicants to the Class of 2025. 614 were admitted solely to Emory College, 337 solely to Oxford College and 182 to both.
A total of 1,975 applications were received for admittance to Emory College, Oxford College at Emory or both.

The University of Virginia has offered admission to more than 5,000 students in its early action cycle, in a year when the school received a record number of applications.
Some 40,971 applications were submitted to UVA this fall, eclipsing the previous record of 40,804, set last year. Of those new applications, 25,160 were entered for the early action cycle, a non-binding admission process in which students meet an earlier application deadline of Nov. 1 and received notification early Friday evening. UVA extended offers of admission to 5,219 people.

The latest admission offers include 586 made to first-generation students. Women received 56% of the offers. The total offer rate for this year's early action cycle is 21%.
In December, UVA offered admission to 748 people in its binding, early decision cycle – a process by which early applying students receive even earlier notification in exchange for their pledge to accept admissions offers, if extended. Of the students accepted under that plan, 56 are first-generation scholars.
Still to come is the regular admissions cycle. Applications were due Jan. 6, with decisions set to be released by April 1.
Students admitted during the early action and regular admissions cycles have until May 1 to accept their admissions offers.
Last year, UVA made 6,541 admission offers through early action. This year, the University is making a combined 5,967 offers through both early decision and early action.
UVA Dean of Admission Greg Roberts said of those offered admission in this year's early action group, the mean SAT score is 1,439 (out of a possible 1,600). More than 95% of students offered admission in the early action pool are in the top 10% of their high school graduating class.
